Oga Adejo-Ogiri, the Executive Secretary of the Association of Local Distributors of Gas (ALDG), is set to make a significant contribution as a distinguished keynote speaker at the upcoming Gas Investment Forum 2023.
Nigeria’s ‘Decade of Gas’ initiative is grounded in the belief that gas is a pivotal driver of economic growth and development. Despite being home to nearly 209 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, the ninth largest globally, Nigeria currently harnesses only about 8 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscf) of gas, with the majority being exported.
The $20 billion initiative revolves around four key pillars: augmenting domestic gas utilization, expanding gas infrastructure, increasing gas exports, and attracting foreign direct investment into the gas sector
We are delighted to announce that the Association of Local Distributors (ALDG), tasked with promoting natural gas distribution and utilization in Nigeria, will actively participate in the forthcoming Gas Investment Forum, scheduled for October 30-31 in Lagos.
Oga Adejo-Ogiri, the Executive Secretary of ALDG, will deliver a keynote address, providing invaluable insights into Nigeria’s sustainable strategies for increased investments as part of its ‘Decade of Gas’ agenda.
Ogiri boasts over two decades of pertinent professional experience in the Energy sector. He currently serves as the Principal Consultant of Vappax Advisory, an Energy Consulting and Business Development firm. Before founding Vappax Advisory, he held the position of Head of Gas Sourcing and Wholesale Markets at Axxela Limited (formerly Oando Gas & Power), a prominent indigenous gas distribution and infrastructure development company. In this role, he led commercial negotiations on Gas Supply Agreements with both upstream suppliers and downstream wholesale buyers.
During his tenure at Axxela, he played a pivotal role in developing various gas infrastructure projects aimed at supplying gas to underserved markets. Prior to joining Axxela, he served as a Technical Adviser seconded to the Oil & Gas Unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance. Notably, this was during the tenure of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Nigeria’s ‘Decade of Gas’ program is drawing significant investments and has identified 20 critical gas projects, presenting substantial billion-dollar investment opportunities throughout the gas value chain. This plan is poised to deliver ten projects that will have a profound impact on the economy.
According to the plan, the Federal Government aims to attract $14 billion in foreign direct investment, generate $12 billion in revenue through royalties and taxes, and create two million jobs by 2030.
Ogiri’s extensive knowledge of ALDG’s activities and deep insights into Nigeria’s gas sector will be invaluable at the Gas Investment Forum 2023. He will provide critical perspectives on ALDG’s role in advancing Nigeria’s gas-powered economy, the association’s strategic initiatives, and the broader dynamics of Nigeria’s ‘Decade of Gas’ agenda.
